في ختام أعمالها الجمعية العامة لمجلس كنائس الشرق الأوسط تشكر الرئيس السيسي وقداسة البابا وتدعو إلى نبذ العنف والتعصب والتطرف والإرهاب والتمييز وتعلن عن دعمها لجهود مجابهة التغيرات المناخية.
عقدت الجمعية العامة لمجلس كنائس الشرق الأوسط جلستها الختامية للدورة الثانية عشرة، مساء اليوم، والتي جرت أعمالها لمدة خمسة أيام، بمركز لوجوس بالمقر البابوي بدير القديس الأنبا بيشوي بوادي النطرون، في ضيافة الكنيسة القبطية الأرثوذكسية.
وألقى الأمين العام للمجلس الدكتور ميشال عبس البيان الختامي الذي تصدره شكر المجلس للرئيس عبد الفتاح السيسي رئيس الجمهورية على استقباله لرؤساء الكنائس، مثمنةً تأكيده على "أن الأخوة المسيحيين في جميع الدول العربية هم جزءٌ أصيلٌ من نسيج المجتمع العربي بأسره"، ومقدرةً الجهود التي يقوم بها فخامته من أجل السلام المجتمعي ومكافحة الإرهاب والعمل على بناء الجمهورية الجديدة. وشكر المجلس أجهزة الدولة المصرية لتعاونها واهتمامها بهذا الحدث.
كما شكر المجلس في بيانه الختامي الكنيسة القبطية الأرثوذكسية وعلى رأسها قداسة البابا تواضروس الثاني على استضافتها لأعمال الجمعية العامة، بمحبّة وكرم. كما شكروا الكنيسة الإنجيلية في مصر على المساهمة التي قدمتها لإنجاح أعمال الجمعية العامة.
وأشار البيان إلى انتخاب الرؤساء الأربعة الجدد للمجلس للدورة الجديدة وهم:
*عن العائلة الأرثوذكسية الشرقية: نيافة الأنبا أنطونيوس، مطران القدس والشرق الأدنى للأقباط الأرثوذكس.
**عن العائلة الأرثوذكسية: غبطة البطريرك يوحنا العاشر، بطريرك أنطاكية وسائر المشرق للروم الأرثوذكس.
*عن العائلة الكاثوليكية: غبطة البطريرك رافاييل بيدروس الحادي والعشرون ميناسيان، كاثوليكوس بطريرك كليليكيا للأرمن الكاثوليك.
*عن العائلة الإنجيلية: سيادة القس الدكتور بول هايدوستيان، رئيس اتحاد الكنائس الأرمنية الإنجيلية في الشرق الأدنى. مع تثبيت انتخاب الدكتور ميشال عبس أمينًا عامًا للدورة ذاتها.
** كما ألمح البيان إلى القضايا التي نوقشت ضمن أعمال الجمعية العامة وهي الشهادة المسيحية والعلاقات المسكونية، والدياكونية والخدمة الاجتماعية، والتواصل والدعم، والحوار والتماسك الاجتماعي، والتنمية المؤسسية والاستدامة.
**ودعا المجلس إلى نبذ العنف والتعصب بكل أنواعه وأشكاله، ورفض التطرف والإرهاب والإقصاء والتمييز على أساس الدين والعرق واللون والجنس، معربًا عن تضامنه مع المهمشين والمستضعفين واللاجئين والنازحين، مناشدًا المسؤولين والأسرة الدولية للعمل على عودتهم إلى أرضهم.
**كما دعا إلى احترام حرية المعتقَد، وترسيخ قيم المواطنة والحياة المشتركة مع الأخوة المسلمين من منطلق تقاسم العيش معهم باحترام متبادل. معلنًا عن دعمه للكنائس والمؤمنين في القدس، مشددًا على الحفاظ على الأماكن المقدسة، مذكرًا الأسرة الدولية وشعوب العالم بأهمية تقوية الحضور المسيحي في مدينة السلام.
***وعلى صعيد الظروف الاقتصادية حث البيان الختامي المسؤولين وأصحاب القرار بالعمل الجاد على التصدي للأزمات المستشرية في مختلف بلدان الشرق الأوسط، ولا سيما الوضع الإقتصادي المتردي، رفعًا للمعاناة التي تثقل كاهل الشعوب، ما يستوجب وقفة ضمير لإعلاء الخير العام فوق كل اعتبار.
***وأكدت الجمعية على أن الحضور المسيحي هو في جوهر كينونة الشرق الأوسط، مشيرةً إلى أن للمسيحيين إسهامات جليلة في بناء بلدانهم وازدهارها، وهم سيبقون متجذرين في هذه الأرض وشركاء أصلاء في نهضتها وبناء حاضرها ومستقبلها، مهما اشتدت العواصف والتحدّيات. داعيةً الذين هاجروا من بلدانهم إلى المحافظة على ارتباطهم بأوطانهم الأم وعدم التفريط بممتلكاتهم، ومعهم ترجو فوق كل رجاء، واثقةً أن الله يوجِد من المحنة خلاصًا.
***وأكدت الجمعية العامة كذلك على أهمية التجاوب مع مشكلة التغيرات المناخية، منوهةً إلى انعقاد القمة المناخيةCop 27 التي ستقام في شرم الشيخ في نوفمبر المقبل. مشددةً على دور الكنائس المختلفة ومسؤوليتها كوكلاء صالحين على الخليقة، مطالبةً أمم العالم بأخذ التدابير اللازمة بشأن التغييرات المناخية.
***وأخيرًا ناشدت الجمعية العامة المرجعيات الدولية وأصحاب القرار للعمل الجاد والدؤوب على إطلاق سراح جميع المخطوفين، لا سيما مطراني حلب بولس اليازجي ومار غريغوريوس يوحنا ابراهيم، والكهنة والمدنيين، مع التضرع كي يحفظهم الرب ويعيدهم سالمين.
***وفي ختام الجلسة قدم قداسة البابا تواضروس الثاني هدية تذكارية للأمين العام، كما قدم كتاب "كتاشيزم الكنيسة القبطية الأرثوذكسية" الذي صدر حديثًا للأب القمص تادرس يعقوب ملطي هديةً لجميع المشاركين في الجمعية العامة.

At the conclusion of its work, the General Assembly of the Middle East Council of Churches thanks President Sisi and His Holiness the Pope and calls for the renunciation of violence, fanaticism, extremism, terrorism and discrimination and announces its support for efforts to confront climate change
The General Assembly of the Middle East Council of Churches held its closing session for the twelfth session, this evening, which took place for five days, at the Logos Center in the Papal Headquarters in the Monastery of St. Bishoy in Wadi El Natroun, hosted by the Coptic Orthodox Church.
The Secretary-General of the Council, Dr. Michel Abs, delivered the final statement issued by the Council thanking President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, President of the Republic, for receiving the heads of churches, valuing his affirmation that “Christian brothers in all Arab countries are an integral part of the fabric of the entire Arab society,” and appreciating the efforts made by him. His Excellency, for societal peace, combating terrorism, and working to build the new republic. The Council thanked the Egyptian state agencies for their cooperation and interest in this event.
In its final statement, the Council thanked the Coptic Orthodox Church, headed by His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, for hosting the work of the General Assembly with love and generosity. They also thanked the Evangelical Church in Egypt for the contribution it made to the success of the work of the General Assembly.
The statement referred to the election of the four new presidents of the council for the new term, and they are:
For the Eastern Orthodox family: His Grace Bishop Anthony, Metropolitan of Jerusalem and the Near East for the Coptic Orthodox.
About the Orthodox family: His Beatitude John X, Patriarch of Antioch and all the East for the Greek Orthodox.
On the Catholic family: His Beatitude Raphael Pedros XXI Minassian, Catholicos, Patriarch of Cilicia for the Armenian Catholics.
About the Evangelical Family: His Excellency Rev. Dr. Paul Haidostian, President of the Federation of Armenian Evangelical Churches in the Near East. With confirmation of the election of Dr. Michel Abs as Secretary-General for the same session.
The statement also alluded to the issues discussed within the work of the General Assembly, namely Christian witness and ecumenical relations, Diakonia and social service, communication and support, dialogue and social cohesion, institutional development and sustainability.
The Council called for the renunciation of violence and fanaticism of all kinds and forms, and rejecting extremism, terrorism, exclusion and discrimination based on religion, race, color and gender, expressing its solidarity with the marginalized, the vulnerable, refugees and displaced persons, and appealing to officials and the international community to work on their return to their land.
He also called for respect for freedom of belief, and the consolidation of the values of citizenship and a common life with Muslim brothers in terms of sharing living with them with mutual respect. Announcing his support for the churches and believers in Jerusalem, stressing the preservation of the holy places, reminding the international community and the peoples of the world of the importance of strengthening the Christian presence in the City of Peace.
On the level of economic conditions, the final statement urged officials and decision-makers to work hard to address the prevalent crises in various countries of the Middle East, especially the deteriorating economic situation, in order to alleviate the suffering that burdens peoples, which requires a pause of conscience to uphold the common good above all considerations.
The association stressed that the Christian presence is at the core of the Middle East, noting that Christians have made great contributions to building their countries and their prosperity, and they will remain rooted in this land and genuine partners in its renaissance and building its present and future, no matter how severe the storms and challenges. Calling those who have emigrated from their countries to maintain their connection to their motherland and not to waste their possessions, and with them hope above all hope, confident that God will find salvation from adversity.
The General Assembly also stressed the importance of responding to the problem of climate change, noting the convening of the Climate Summit Cop 27, which will be held in Sharm El Sheikh next November. Emphasizing the role and responsibility of the various churches as good stewards of creation, and calling on the nations of the world to take the necessary measures regarding climate change.
Finally, the General Assembly appealed to the international references and decision-makers to work hard and diligently to release all the kidnapped, especially the Archbishops of Aleppo Paul Yazigi and Mor Gregory Youhanna Ibrahim, the priests and civilians, with a prayer that the Lord preserve them and bring them back safely.
At the end of the session, His Holiness Pope Tawadros II presented a souvenir to the Secretary-General. He also presented the recently published book "Katachism of the Coptic Orthodox Church" by Father Tadros Yacoub Malaty as a gift to all participants in the General Assembly.
